Review:
I made no secret of how much I adored Pound of Flesh, so when I saw that Sophie was releasing this novella as an accompaniment to the series, I pre ordered that bad boy as fast as my fingers would click. Then, 1st August arrives and it lands on my kindle, but I couldn’t read it straight away. When I did eventually got round to it, I was sucked straight back into the world of Kat and Carter.
I have to admit, it didn’t hold my attention as much as Pound of Flesh did because, while it was amazing to spend more time with these characters, it felt as if it were an extension. The story, revolving around a second Christmas together – this time in their own home – would not have been out of place at the end of the original book. It felt a bit like an extended epilogue, rather than something new, which is fine.
Having said that, it’s Carter and his Peaches. I’d read about them having breakfast. I love these characters and the journey they have travelled together to get to where they are in this novella.
I’m waiting, rather impatiently, for Max’s story because although we get to know him and a little about his back story in Pound of Flesh, and he appears briefly in Love and Always, I really want to know more about him. So, hup to Jackson!!
