*** I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***
My first thought when I started this book is that just from the style of writing, i could tell it was written by an older man with very strong links to Hollywood rather than someone who has sat and read gossip columns online. It’s a very dry humoured and cynical book and I LOVED it!
I’m not a huge gossip monger, but there are certain celebrities that I WILL read about because it makes me so thankful for having a relatively normal existence. Yeah, their money is enviable, but the sheer pressure that goes with it, no thanks.
The main character and narrator, Clark Kelly is brilliant. His tone is one of someone who is centuries old yet is still having a blast ‘living life’. Hollywood is the PERFECT place for him as he uses his talents for the greater good. To publish gossip about celebs. Not that a word of it isn’t true mind you, he has standards.
Then there’s TayLo. Blonde bombshell actress with a habit of partying a bit too hard. Until she and Clark get involved that is. She’s a surprise that one, this is no bimbo.
The support cast are just as brilliant as the leads. They are well rounded, realistic, and believable. The truly complement the main characters and the plot throughout so well, I found myself wanting to know more about them. In particular, the rakish Damon Strutt.
If you love reading celeb gossip, whether it’s to make fun of them or to truly know what they are up to, this is certainly the book for you. If you want a new take on vampires co-existing with humans, look no further.
